About the Burma Road Photo Gallery
Of all the places I have visited, Burma was the one destination that changed my life. After this trip I realize how fortunate and blessed I was to live in America with all the plentiful resources and freedom we have as U.S. citizens.
This photo gallery contains pictures of Burma taken on my visit in December 2007. My visit was both exciting and sad at the same time. Exciting that I could photograph this amazing country and make new friends along the way, sad for the suffering and hardships of the Burmese people.
Burma, a country of around 50 million people is ruled by fear. A military machine of 500,000 soldiers denies a whole nation its most basic rights. Aung San Suu Kyi, pro-democracy leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner, symbolizes the struggle of Burma's people to be free.
Aung San Suu Kyi's Party, the National League for Democracy (NLD) won 82% of the seats in elections held in 1990. The people of Burma overwhelmingly rejected military rule yet the military continues to refuse to transfer power to Burma's democratically elected leaders.

A special thank you to my dear friends Mable & Robert for making this trip possible.
I hope you enjoy my photos.
Best regards,
